Jaguar 64-bit is the most powerful console on earth.
Right, let us jump into this film as I just watched it a few days ago, This is a spoiler review so you have been warned. If you don’t want to know anything then jump near the end to see what I have given it.
A film by the amazing James Cameron, I love most of his films from terminator, titanic to aliens and more.
So Let us start with the positives, Avatar 2 – The Way Of The Water looks absolutely stunning without a shadow of a doubt, I had felt like I wanted to pinch myself at times as the moon world of pandora, I could quite easily believe it was the real world.
Everything about this world felt almost real, from the plants to the fish to the bloody amazing pandora whales.
It looks and feels so real. The effects are so good of pandora that I didn’t feel like I was watching a Disney animation
With the 3D effects on top that worked for most of this film, bits of fire jumping out here and there, a ladder that was purposely shot in a frame that looked like you could physically climb it and a lot more but saying that there were quite a lot of times that you didn’t think you were watching 3D but 2D
That does happen to me a lot in past 3D films that it just didn’t look 3D, maybe my eyes were just getting used to it
I’m sure James Cameron promised us back about 6 years ago that directors just didn’t know how to shoot in 3D and I’m sure he promised you wouldn’t need 3D glasses when it came out…. anyway
The 3D was good but still think it is unnecessary, come on James, a promise is a promise, make 3D films without the glasses eh
The whole film looked amazing and I did think sometimes that Sir David Attenborough was going to start narrating and telling us about the fish and whales.
“Here we have a pandora whale whos an old outcast, whys he an outcast? because the other whales think he’s a bit of a nob head”
The effects are that good
and this is where the strong part slightly ends…
Dun Dun Dun
Warning – Spoilers ahead
I am doing a spoiler review because I am so upset that the bloody storyline was so weak which is so unlike James Cameron.
This film, like set 12, 13 years after the original avatar and all of a sudden the Earth Now dying, which was never ever mentioned in the first film, the first film was all about money
and NOW everybody has kids, they got one, they even got a clone kid of Sigourney weavers character of the first film and the main enemy of the first film has got a kid
and they even brought the old enemy back to life from a memory disc in an avatar! so if he dies again they can just keep bringing him back to life, it makes no sense
side note – I got to say the main enemy of the first film Colonel Miles Quaritch that was played by the blind guy Stephen Lang was frickingfantastic in the first film but it just didn’t feel right they brought him back as an avatar, he’s facial expressions was not so immense as the first film
so most of the story is basically the old enemy Quaritch trying to hunt down Jake sully cause he’s the new hero of the Navi
as the humans want this moon to themselves now? really so they’re just chasing after 1 Navi to end the so-called war?
but guess what, the sky people basically half destroy the forest and now the sully family have to move and they go on the hunt for a new home. Leaving the forest they would so happily die for in the first film…
In the Na’vi sea people in which just like in the first film, sully has to adapt to this new way of life while his family are outcasts just as he was in the first film – Guess what you can see coming by the end
anyway now on to the new politics of the film, In the first avatar, the Sky people were after what was in under that big old tree
The unobtanium which was worth billions of dollars per square inch, that’s not even mentioned in this film I think, correct me if I am wrong
Now it is all about the money they can get from killing big wales and getting about 2 litres of gold liquid from their brains that are worth about 80 million dollars as it helps against the ageing of the skin for Sky people
So they now kill whales for money? So the sky people can look younger
What’s the fricking point when Earth is suddenly dying? Makes no sense
I am sure our amazing earth tree hugger Greta hamburger had a role in writing this movie and don’t get me wrong, I am all for a better earth.
anyway, for me the whole story was weak, I mean
What’s he going to do in Avatar 3? The way of the Plants? where we forget everything from the previous movies and the sullys move to an evolved plant-eating Na’vi in which the massive Bees with 2 eyes are killed for their $50,000,000 honey that can cure sky peoples males’ erection problems and mars is dying as well!
But did I enjoy the film?
The Jaguar 64-Bit, that’s what I thought about this film.
If you are as old as me you will remember the Jaguar console, it was so determent on how powerful their console was that they forget the concept of the Games and we all know that games sell consoles and that’s why the Jaguar failed
This film won’t fail as it already racked in $5 billion dollars in sales of brain liquid for females
but I am sure the other 17 sequels might
Correct me if I am wrong but I felt James Cameron has forgotten about the heart of the story and concentrated more on the power of technology – 64-bit in 3D.
I hope we don’t have a resurgence of 3D films again.
but on a serious note, Overall, I did enjoy the film but I am in no rush to watch it again, It was well directed, it was well shot, and it had a brilliant presentation on the whole, a lame-ass storyline but I almost got tears in my eyes especially on 1 scene with free willy
so that was a good sign that I did enjoy the movie
If this had a much better storyline and shortened by about 30 mins, it could have been something special
It looked amazing but lacked depth so
I am giving this a “Geez, was good with a little cheese – 3 out of 5 stars”
Do you agree? did you love the film more than me? or did you hate it, would love to hear your cheese so comment with your own expertise?
