This is the original robocop movie review

one of the most violent sci-fi movies made in the 80s that is more human than we first thought.

and I’ll buy that for a dollar!

In this original RoboCop movie review, you will find me talking about the positives, and the negatives and don’t miss out on the unique appearance – if you blink your miss ahem them.

If you were growing you in the 80s and you used to watch films on VHS or Betamax, you would have had trailers in front of the film and I used to love those trailers of upcoming movies.

One of those films was of course RoboCop and I remember how cool it looked but thought to myself even as a kid of 10 years old. Robocop? this looks like cheese.

It was all in the name that I was put off, Robocop! Robocop my god what are they going to next, Robo fireman Sam? Where the robo gets out of his big large water pipe and fires his blessing putting out hot girls

I really remember thinking this is a terminator rip off but as they say, don’t judge a book by its cover.

Rewatching this film again I did realise this still has an excellent human storyline.

The story, set in Detroit in the year 2043

Detroit is mostly crime-ridden, especially at night with gangs, drugs, burglaries and of course my favourite prostitutes.

The police and most businesses are owned by a corporation that has a few corrupt players in it that backstab each other. It is called the UK parliament

or will call them for this film the OCP of Detroit

This company wants to change the way of Detroit by making it a megacity so there helping the police staff with new police enforcers… robot police

but behind the scenes, some of the corrupt politicians want to run this new city with more drugs and more power

One of the top dogs of OCP Introduce the ED-209, A versatile powerhouse that can destroy anything without thinking humanly and that’s where it failed in its first field test. It wiped the floor of a nice politician of the OCP.

Great scene by the way, but using live ammunition in an office, I’m really sure that would be allowed with health and safety standards

This is where a hungry horse new OCP boy gets his chance to promote the ROBOCOP, Part human part machine, as it will have morals. He gets the nod, and the go-ahead but whos it going to be? They need a freshly dead body for the part.

Introducing the new OCP Detroit family man officer Murphy who is really played well by Peter Weller. He and his female partner Lewis are called into a bank job and they try to track down these mother frickers without backup

The gang leader Clarence Boddicker played by Kurtwood smith gives a phenomenal performance as the main bad guy. He really delivers as he presented on the screen you think he doesn’t give a shit about anyone or anything, you wouldn’t mess with a guy like this in life.

So Murphy and Lewis track this gang down and they separate

Lewis gets knocked out

then comes the great ugly scene of the poor family man murphy!

This gang really gets takes the piss on him, toys with him, torture him mentally and physically blow his hand off and they still take the piss on him, another great scene that I would have hated to be Murphy but this is part of a sweet revenge story

this gang have no morals except money and power. They leave. Murphy is almost dead and taken to the hospital where his life of being a family man flashes before his eyes before he is declared dead. It is a scene where the emotional human side will haunt him.

and this is where RoboCop is born.

This is not a man neither it is a machine, it is an un-identified thing that just follows orders from the company above to get lots of attention and make the bad guys sweat

and here it is in its full costume…

No not that one… this one!

I’m not going to go into the story with great detail because I don’t want to spoil it too much if you’ve not seen this film.

This film has a lot of depth as the once part man part machine slowly from nightmares and his old partner lewis confirms he was once a man. This is where Robocop starts becoming human and starts tracking down the people who destroyed his family life.

Not know but this leads to one of the OCP directors and a few twists of events that eventually lead him to his own but he does get help from his formal partner lewis in the final confrontation of the Gang.

That’s all I’m going to say about the storyline.

So a few negatives for this film, there are not really that many to be honest, Just that the stop motion today looks dated but there are only a couple of short scenes with stop motion. The film is still believable.

some of the little fight scenes look like they couldn’t be touched up a bit, but you won’t notice these details if you watch it a few times

The positives of this film,

It is violent porn with great violent scenes in it that the director Paul Verhoeven even had the story a little based on Jesus’s resurrection

It has a great cast and has heart in its storyline and not to mention the music score which is perfect for this film, you might even find yourself humming the theme times like id do.

Overall this film is another bees fricking knees, its a 5 out of 5 stars so buy and add it to your collection

So watch it and watch it again and again

I personally will say you will goddamn love it

Do you agree? did you love the film more than me? or did you hate it, would love to hear your cheese so comment with your own expertise.
