Heavy breathing

Let’s breathe…….

Now I literally just watched this film so it is a quick review today as it is fresh on my mind.

Mélanie Lawhore stars in this little sci-fi thriller Oxygen which has been directed by Alex and Reha has also done good entertaining films like High Tension, Crawl and a personal favorite Pirhana 3D

So is Oxygen worth a watch, is it a good sci-fi film? is it worth your money and will you be entertained?

You find out here

So Lets Recap

From the opening scene, you have a woman who is just waking up in a panic room, well looks like a panic room but she is not in a panic room, more of a coffin with features!

Or a cryo pod and this is where the panic starts as she’s unable to get the fuck out of there,

She also has a thin layer of tissue around her. She makes funny noises like she’s having a big orgasm while getting out of these layers with medical instruments and pipes in her.

This cryogenic pod looks like a pod from a future hospital, and she does not recognise anything as she has basically lost her memory but she is stuck in this medical pod with her only companion is virtual reality computer called MILO and guess what,

Her oxygen levels are getting Low! Now Let us get stressed

From the computer that’s called Milo, she has basically access to everything, the net, phone and anything you could ask for but when someone has no memory at all of who she is and where she is from apart from the flashbacks she keeps having

How is she going to escape and who is she? She starts to discover who she is with the help of MILO and starts on a personal journey to why she is there and how to escape this

Even though this doesn’t sound like a very sci-fi movie which it is, this is a very short recap because I can’t really talk about the plot too much without spoiling it so I’m going to end the recap here

Negatives

It is a French film with English subtitles, I know a lot of people are put off by this but I prefer subtitles to shit dubbing.

This is a bottle movie with just one character stuck in one environment which some people will be put off by

The film can be claustrophobic for certain viewers, especially if you don’t like rats.

Some of the CGI effects are a little weak but I’m just being picky

Positives

The cinematography of this film is brilliant, it makes us the viewers feel like we are stuck in this pod too which can make some people feel claustrophobic which is the main point of this film.

Really good performance from the lead Mélanie Lahore, She plays a great part in being stuck in this coffin and making her and us tense

Well-written script with twists and turns along the way, especially near the end where you think the movie is going but it is not, let me know where you thought it was going for me to confirm my thoughts.

The run time of this film for me was perfect, just enough to keep me entertained and not thinking this is dragging on.

Overall

A good overall film that really gets a grip on you and you are helplessly rooting for her all the way.

This film is one of those films that you will really enjoy as a one-off, I really enjoyed it very much but I wouldn’t watch it again for another 10 years so I can forget about it and enjoy it again then.

It is a really good one showing and you will enjoy it, my sci-fi nerds

That’s why I’m giving it a Geez was good with a little cheese, It’s a good 3/5 and I do recommend rent or stream it before you buy.

Did you like this film more than me or did you hate it? I would love to know your expertise so comment below with your cheese
